1920s Ace of Clubs Playing Card Pendant in Sterling Silver complete with 16″ Chain
A wonderfully unusual and unique vintage Ace of Clubs playing card pendant, originally made as a cufflink around the 1920s by Langstone Silver Works in Birmingham.
The original cufflinks are believed to date to around the mid 1920’s and were made at the Langstone workshop in Birmingham, associated with renowned Birmingham jeweller and silversmith Bernard Instone. Langstone Silver Works was established in the early 20th century and became known for beautifully crafted jewellery and silver pieces, making the Birmingham connection a particularly lovely part of this pendant’s history.
I have had the original cufflinks lovingly converted into unique pendants by my jeweller, giving these wonderful pieces of early 20th-century jewellery a new lease of life. The full set is available, including the Ace of Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades.
This particular pendant features a charming Ace of Clubs playing card design, with the traditional black club motifs set against the silver on white enamel. Small, distinctive and full of character, it is the sort of jewellery that is guaranteed to attract attention and become a talking point.
The pendant itself is in sterling silver and comes complete with a 16-inch sterling silver chain, so it is ready to wear.
I particularly love the idea of taking something that was created around a century ago originally as a set of cufflinks and transforming them into something that can be worn and enjoyed today. Each one retains its original vintage character while giving this fascinating piece of Birmingham jewellery history a completely new purpose.
A wonderful piece for anyone who loves playing cards, unusual vintage jewellery, Birmingham jewellery history or pieces with a story behind them.
A little piece of jewellery history, reimagined for today.
